Future ATS: Recruitment Automation

Applicant tracking systems and recruitment software have a big problem: they’re too manual. They accomplish your goals, but require too much data entry, human intervention, and time. They’re passive and unoptimized. You need the machine to work for you, but ultimately, you end up working for the machine. We see the world differently. We believe applicant tracking systems should work for you in a way we call recruitment automation.

In fact, the genesis of our product is rooted in recruitment automation. Ten years ago, our founder ran a staffing agency. He found it incredibly tedious to keep his clients and candidates up to date on the status of their applications, and saw that accepted hiring practices were inefficient and ineffective. Dissatisfied with these outdated hiring methods, he launched CATS. It’s been years since we were a staffing agency, but this foundation in staffing has defined what we do. After over a decade of experience, we have meticulously refined our software, and are especially proud of the workflow engine, the crown jewel of our recruitment capabilities.

What is an Applicant Tracking System?

An Applicant Tracking System (ATS) is a computer software that recruiters and staffers utilize to streamline all parts of the hiring process. The first ATS appeared early in the dotcom boom, and CATS was founded soon after in 2005. Since that time, the market has been saturated with various types of recruitment software, and selecting one can be daunting. Choosing the right one can make the hiring process quick and painless, but choosing the wrong one can amount to endless struggle.

What is Workflow?

“A workflow consists of an orchestrated and repeatable pattern of business activity enabled by the systematic organization of resources into processes that transform materials, provide services, or process information.” - BPM Glossary

Simply put, workflow is the monotonous stuff that you or your agency do over and over again. It’s the day-to-day, uninspiring-but-crucial tasks that keep you from the real passion of recruiting.

What is Recruitment Automation?

Recruitment Automation is intuitive, intelligent, and highly customizable software that accelerates the hiring process and streamlines your workflow. Features like resume inbox, browser add-ons, and triggers make your time intensive work quick and painless, eliminating unnecessary screen time in favor of the more human side of staffing. We are always looking to create and update CATS' features, with the express purpose of improving workflow efficiency. In short, Recruitment Automation makes you better at your job.

What is This?

This is a new series, intended to help you navigate the future of the ATS and, specifically, how CATS and recruitment automation can help. How can you optimize your time, what do you need to make you better at your job, and how can CATS fill those needs? We’ll cover these questions by following four recruiters, all of whom are indifferent stages of the hiring process. Each recruiter is self-employed or in a small or large firm. In any case, this series will help with these common struggles with time optimization the professional recruiter regularly deals with.

Keep your eyes peeled for the upcoming Part 1 of The Future’s ATS: A Preface to Recruitment Automation, and head over to CATS to accelerate your hiring today.
